The Pharma & Biotech team at Citigate Dewe Rogerson, the leading international consultancy specialising in financial and corporate communications, is pleased to provide an update of team and client activities during what has been a very busy final quarter of 2009.
The end of 2009 saw a sharp upswing in financing activity in Europe, with Citigate clients at the forefront. The nearly €100 million IPO on Euronext Brussels for GI company Movetis was the first significant IPO in the European life sciences sector since early 2008. The Citigate team also played an important role in supporting the €100 million placing and offering for NicOx and the €42 million follow-on offering for ThromboGenics, as well as in several smaller fundraisings for private biotech companies.
Citigate also worked on behalf of Novexel in relation to its €505 million acquisition by AstraZeneca and for Clavis Pharma on its US $380 million agreement with Clovis Oncology for CP-4126, a novel cancer treatment.
Outside financial PR, the team was involved in an investor summit for the UK Government Department for Business Innovation & Skills to raise awareness of its UK Innovation Investment Fund (UKIIF). The summit was opened by Secretary of State Lord Mandelson and included speakers from within venture capital, fund management and innovative UK businesses. The summit was followed by Science and Innovation Minister Lord Drayson's announcement of the appointment of Hermes Private Equity and the European Investment Fund (EIF) as the Fund-of-Funds managers for the UKIIF.
Working with our sister agency, Huntsworth Health, the team has also been coordinating an international publicity campaign (USA, UK and Germany) designed to drive patient recruitment into Algeta's global Phase III clinical trial with Alpharadin for treating bone metastases in prostate cancer patients. The team's work on the UK launch of Genzyme's Mozobil® (plerixafor) was also recognised as the client's communication campaign of the year.
