Understanding business issues from every angle

Public Policy

In the summer of 2007 Citigate Dewe Rogerson established a specialist public policy division to help its clients understand and negotiate the political, parliamentary and regulatory issues which routinely affect their business and reputation. The division works with clients to minimise immediate and longer term threats to their organisational or business success and the maximisation of their shareholder value.

The decision to set up a public policy division reflects CDR’s philosophy that it must be able to support all its clients’ communications needs and that it why offices in Brussels and Edinburgh were set up in the first six months of trading. CDR Public Policy also has associates in Washington DC.

The public policy division helps clients identify new business opportunities in respect of public sector and government contracting and advises them on how best to defend themselves against regulatory intervention, legislative challenges and competitor activity. We work with clients to achieve benign operating environments in which their brands, products and services and people are properly protected from regulatory or political change. Our task is to stimulate sympathetic public policy awareness and understanding of clients and politically “de-risk” their businesses. The public policy division specialises in the provision of high value strategic advice; support on transactions and regulatory inquiries; opinion forming and grass roots coalition building; political risk analysis and mediation; and intelligence gathering.

CDR’s public policy division now has over 20 clients and its staff includes a former  special adviser to a senior Cabinet minister, former UK and EU civil servants, and advisers and researchers to MPs and MEPs from across the political spectrum. The senior staff alone possess, between them, more than 40 years of political and consulting experience in the UK and EU.
